Murder as Mass Entertainment in the Digital Age

I’m appalled; the savage murder of Nick Berg is already available on Ogrish.Com, alongside images of every other unspeakable atrocity in the human inventory and capable of being captured digitally in film and photograph.

I checked the site’s home page out of curiosity but absolutely refuse to go any further on moral grounds and neither should anyone else who feels that observing the torture and death of other human beings is wrong.

Ogrish is however groaning under the strain of worldwide demand to see Mr Berg’s final, tragic moments; more popular, it appears, than the Superbowl and an indictment of human character which tells us we have moved not at all from the attractions of the Roman arena or watching the condemned torn apart on the gallows at Tyburn as a morning’s family entertainment in another less digital age.
